Papa’s Pantry is a non-profit ministry that partners with individuals and families whose needs range from a critical shortage of food or finances. They reached out to me about providing a custom art work for them to enter an art competition for the True Vine Experience. They received $250 for my painting of a reproduction of their logo.
Their existing logo is a fun artichoke!
First I toned the background with crimson since I knew I’d have lots of green to compliment it. Then I applied silver foil to the outline/white area on the artichoke.
Next I covered the red with a medium gray. I let that dry then brushed a matte gel medium over just the background to give it some nice texture.
I finished the painting off with deep, jewel toned green and purple. I also sealed the entire piece with clear acrylic spray.
I framed the 16″x20″ painting with simple lattice board that I stained a rich coffee color.
